Kitchen Production Manager (PM Shift)

Feedwell

 Sydney CBD | PM Shift

Lead a Calm, High-Performance Kitchen

Hours: Mon-Thu 1:00pm-9:30pm | Fri 12:00pm-8:30pm

We're Feedwell, one of Sydney's fastest-growing fresh food catering businesses. We deliver thousands of meals daily to workplaces like Google, Amazon, Canva, and Louis Vuitton

We run high-volume kitchens built on clear systems, disciplined execution, and calm leadership.

This role exists for a Production Supervisor who wants full ownership of a PM shift -- not just to "get food out the door," but to lead people, enforce standards, and build a team that performs consistently under pressure.

If you're only looking for better hours without a genuine desire to grow as a leader, this will not be the right role for you.

The Role

You will take full responsibility for our PM production shift, leading a team of approximately 15 Catering Assistants and Kitchen Hands, supported by Team Leaders.

This is not a senior hands-on role dressed up as leadership.

You are accountable for shift performance through people, systems, and standards -- not by doing everything yourself.

During peak periods or staff shortages, you'll be comfortable working hands-on on the production bench (up to ~30% of the time). This is about leader credibility and presence -- while retaining full accountability for quality, safety, output, and team performance.

What You'll Be Accountable For

Your success is measured clearly and consistently.

Delivery & Accuracy

  • Achieving and sustaining 98% On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) dispatch
  • Planning and managing labour to meet production demand and budget targets

Standards & Food Safety

  • Maintaining 98% recipe adherence through coaching and in-shift leadership
  • Ensuring zero critical food safety non-conformances

People & Leadership

  • Building and retaining a stable, reliable PM crew
  • Developing strong Team Leaders and clear succession
  • Leading with calm authority -- no chaos, shouting, or ego-driven behaviour

You Might Recognise This

You may currently be in a role where:

  • You're accountable for outcomes but don't have the authority to fix root causes
  • Leadership above you is inconsistent, reactive, or disengaged
  • Systems exist, but aren't enforced consistently
  • You're expected to "hold it all together" without proper support or development

If that feels familiar, this role is intended to be a genuine step up, not just a change of scenery.

The Environment You'll Be Operating In

You won't be operating in a vacuum.

At Feedwell:

  • Core production systems and standards are already built and documented
  • The Operations Manager has designed and embedded the production framework
  • The Head of People & Culture supports leadership development, capability-building, and succession
  • The CEO is hands-on, engaged, and expects standards to be upheld consistently

Leaders here are backed when they hold the line. Structure, accountability, and long-term capability matter more than heroics.

Hear From Some of Our Team Leaders

These stories matter because they reflect how we develop people -- calmly, deliberately, and over time.

"I started at Feedwell just making sandwiches. I wasn't looking for more at the time, just a stable job I could do well. They noticed, supported me, and helped me grow when I was ready. Now I'm in a more senior role, but it all started on the floor learning the basics properly."

-- Oktaviana, now Packing Supervisor

"When I joined, I was just looking for something steady after hospitality. Over time they gave me chances to learn new stations and trusted me to do more. I've grown a lot here, but what stood out from day one was that it's calm and organised, not chaotic like other kitchens I'd worked in."

-- Anne, now Operations Manager (started in a crew role in 2017)

Who This Role Is For

You're likely already supervising or training teams in environments such as:

  • Corporate catering kitchens
  • Large QSR groups with central production kitchens
  • Ghost kitchens or other high-volume, time-critical operations

You:

  • Thrive in structured, system-driven kitchens
  • Are confident enforcing standards and coaching people to meet them
  • Take full responsibility for outcomes -- not excuses
  • Want to grow your leadership capability, not just run shifts

Who This Role Is Not For

This role is not for someone who:

  • Wants comfort without challenge
  • Avoids accountability when targets slip
  • Needs creativity or novelty to stay engaged
  • Sees leadership as popularity rather than responsibility

This role offers real responsibility, real authority, and real expectations -- within a business that takes leadership and standards seriously.

Package & Practicalities

This is a full-time PM role with consistent weekday hours:

Monday-Thursday 1:00pm-9:30pm | Friday 12:00pm-8:30pm

An attractive package will be offered, including competitive pay based on skills and experience, along with additional perks.
